Pizzicato

Pizzicato

Pizzicato on flute is an extended technique that produces a percussive sound with a defined pitch, imitating string pizzicato. There are two types, lip pizzicato and tongue pizzicato; if not specified, the performer may choose whichever suits them best.

Also called slap tongue, it only works in the first octave and the first few notes of the second octave (up to F5 — keep the first finger of the left hand raised for E5 and F5). For pizzicato in the second or third octave, the flutist must add a touch of flute tone.

Only for the following instruments:Flute
