Rim belly

The rim belly technique produces an airy, almost imperceptible sound.

It is produced by drawing the bow across the outer surface of the instrument, directly on the wood of the body. Although this technique produces an almost inaudible sound, its visual impact is very strong, so it is recommended that the performer exaggerate the gesture more than usual.
